Escape Room Tips and Strategy
Some people may think escape rooms are an easy “kids” game. They would be sorely mistaken! Escape rooms are actually quite challenging, and many groups fail to break out in time. While that may seem daunting, realize that if you go in with a few helpful pointers and tips, you’ll have a much higher chance of success! So listen up! First off, work as a collective unit in the room. Escape rooms are all about teamwork, so be sure to communicate effectively and stay on positive terms with everyone in the room. Often times clues will require multiple items in the rooms coming together, or something you alert the group to will connect with a piece of a clue that someone else is holding. Collaborating is your key to breaking out! Also, pay close attention to the clock and ask for help as needed. While we don’t want to do the whole room for you, just about every group will get stuck at some point. If 5-10 minutes have passed and it feels like no one has any idea what to do next, ask your gamemaster for help! We’ll point you in the right direction and get your group moving again. Remember, you’ve only got 60 minutes in the room, and can have as many as 15 steps to solve. If you take too long on any step, you will get too far behind! Lastly, try not to overanalyze the clues. Solutions are typically really easy; you just have to see the crucial link and reach the “Aha!” moment. If it feels like you’re spending far too long on one step and you’re getting into some really weird in-depth confusion, you’re probably overthinking it. Step back and let another person try the clue, or try to reset your approach to that specific clue.
Restaurants and Recommendations for an Escape Room Night
Playing an escape rooms is thrilling, and you’ll probably want to sit down with your group afterwards and discuss all the finer points and details of the room you just played. However, we prefer you not to openly discuss the game in our lobby since another group may be waiting to play the very same room! What we recommend instead is for you to head out to a restaurant for dinner or drinks so that you can enjoy each other’s company without the intensity of being inside one of our rooms with the clock winding down.
