Escape Room Tips and Strategy
When I played my first escape room, I spent the first 10 minutes completely flabbergasted. I simply had no idea where to start. Escape rooms are a bit tricky like that, so I’ll offer a few pointers here so that you have a better chance of success in one of our rooms. First off, come in with a positive attitude and a readiness to get engaged. Your mind will be tested, and you need to be upbeat and ready to go. This includes your group mates as well. Remember, you’re all on the same team and will be collaborating and communicating the entire time. When it comes to clues, focus on the things that seem to obviously be a clue, and which you can solve with the pieces you have on hand. Don’t be pulled aside by false clues or “red herrings”. Also, try not to overthink each clue. While tricky, most puzzles have a very simple answer that will appear obvious….once you’ve figured it out. Remember, if it feels like you’re overthinking it, then you most likely are. Lastly, let go of reservations about asking for help when you need it. We’ll provide clues when you’re stuck, but you have ask for them. Pay attention to the clock. If 5 or 10 minutes have passed while your group is stuck on one step, go ahead and ask for help, or else risk getting too far behind…
