Escape Room Tips and Strategy
The greatest mistake someone can make when playing their first escape room is to assume it will be easy. While you won’t need any advanced astrophysics degrees to beat the rooms at Breakout Games - Pittsburgh, you may find our rooms to be pretty tricky. Here are some tips on how to best approach an escape room. First, come in with the right group and the right frame of mind. Good collective teamwork is paramount to your success! You want a group that you get along with, and also one where egoes or personal squabbles won’t get in the way of figuring out the puzzles. Remember, you’ll be under the time crunch as the clock winds down, and the teams that stick together and support one another are usually the ones that break out. When working on puzzles, take care not to overthink them. The solutions aren’t particularly hard; it’s more about noticing a key detail or seeing how the puzzle fits together. Therefore, each step shouldn’t take more than just a few minutes to solve. If the answer doesn’t come quickly, let someone else in your group take a look or try to rethink your approach to the puzzle. Lastly, if everyone is completely stuck, ask for a clue. Our game masters will help get you unstuck and moving again, but you have to ask! Many inexperienced groups will wait 20 minutes to ask for help on one thing. That is far too long. If you’ve been stuck for 5-10 minutes, I highly advise asking for help. Otherwise, you’ll get too far behind.

Located close to the Ross Park Mall, there are numerous restaurants, shopping, and other activities to include in a trip to Breakout Games. Check out these restaurants: Eat’n Park, Taj Mahal, Sesame Inn, Mad Mex, CoreLife Eatery, Olive Garden, IHOP, Bob Evan’s, The Cheesecake Factory, and Chili’s Grill & Bar.
