Escape Room Tips & Strategy

Few things can adequately prepare someone for the intensity and excitement of an escape room, but here are a few quick pointers:

  • Work together as a team. There's no need to showboat or make conflict with teammates. You're all striving for the common goal of escaping in time.
  • Keep an eye on the clock, as time passes very quickly.
  • Take advantage of your clues. We try to offer assistance when needed, and inevitably, most groups get stuck on something or another.
  • Instead of digging deep into your advanced Calculus knowledge, when you get stumped for 5-10 minutes on a single step, just ask for help. Chances are the solution was something pretty simple that you guys just happened to miss. Trust me, you'll feel a lot better having broken out after using 2 clues than fretting over what went wrong when you refused to ask for help.

Restaurants & Recommendations for Escape Room Night

We find that our guests often leave excited and want to chat about what happened in the room. That’s great! Since we don’t want you spoiling the clues for the next group, I recommend heading out to eat afterwards or grabbing drinks together so that your team can discuss all the things you did right (or wrong!) in the room. Also, this allows you a place to socialize and chat, which there simply isn’t time for in the room. Here are some spots to check out following your visit to Breakout Charlotte: At the Carolina Place mall, you’ll find a wide selection of quick options at the food court, or try sit-down restaurants like Buca di Beppo and Harper’s. You can also eat at Dave & Buster’s, which is a great place to continue the fun as well with a wide variety of arcade games! Outside the mall, try El Veracruz Mexican, China Buffet, Don Pedro Mexican, IHOP, Zafran Kabab Palace, Global Restaurant, Jason’s Deli, Longhorn Steakhouse, Captain D’s, Red Lobster, Olive Garden Italian, Chaupaati, Bombay Grille, Cookout, Nakato Japanese, Outback Steakhouse, Cicis, and K & W Cafeterias. If you want a nice bar atmosphere, check out Pintville Craft Beer. And if you’re looking for more fun, head over to Laser Quest for laser tag.
