Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is an escape game?
A: Escape games are real life adventures where you and your fellow players have an hour to break out of a room by cracking codes, solving riddles, piecing together puzzles, and finding clues. The game originated in Japan and is based off escape the room video games created by Toshimitsu Takagi in 2005. Need more details? Read up on escape rooms here.
Q: How difficult are the escape rooms?
A: You get to decide! At Breakout, we don’t limit the amount of hints you can ask for as you play the game. It’s up to you to make the game more or less challenging by the number of clues you use.
Q: How much does a breakout escape game experience cost?
A: Our escape room prices vary based on how many people are in your group: 2 players: 46.99, 3 players: 43.99, 4 players: 34.99, 5 players: 31.99, 6 players: 28.99, 7 players: 26.99, 8 players: 26.99 (cost is per player). Some rooms may have a lower maximum headcount, you’ll see that when booking your game. Note that prices vary from location to location. If you’re interested in gift cards, click here to learn more.
Q: What forms of payments are accepted?
A: We take every major credit card. If using a prepaid debit card, it must be registered online with an address and zip code. You can see escape game times and book reservations on our online booking page.
Q: Are the tickets refundable?
A: No cancellations are allowed, but we will work with you to reschedule a game if an emergency arises.
Q: Are tickets transferable to a friend?
A: Yes. You can give/sell your tickets to another person. Just contact us and we can take care of that for you.
Q: Do I need to book our escape game in advance?
A: Yes. You can see escape game times and book reservations on our online booking page. We can’t guarantee a spot unless you’ve booked ahead of time.
Q: What if we don't book all the available spots for an escape room?
A: All our rooms at Breakout are private. Don't worry about playing with strangers; it's just you and your team. Plus, the larger your team the more you save. So invite your friends!
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: Anyone can play! However, if you are under 14 years of age, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you are under 18 and coming without a parent or guardian, please fill out this waiver prior to arriving. Check out these resources for helping younger children play escape rooms and the lessons kids learn from playing them.
Q: What time should my group arrive?
A: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your booking. We do have to keep a strict schedule, so if you arrive late you may not receive the full 60 minutes in your room.
Q: Do I need to bring anything with me to escape?
A: Just your friends and a winning spirit! You will only need the clues within the rooms to escape. Before your game, we'll ask you to fill out a quick waiver. To save time, please fill out this waiver prior to arriving.
Q: Are you really going to lock us in?
A: No! Your safety is our top priority, so we don't really lock you in. You have the option to leave the escape room at any time if necessary. Read more about our safety measures here.
Q: Are there cameras in the escape rooms?
A: Yes. Cameras are used to monitor your live experience.
Q: What happens if we don't solve anything?
A: We will be monitoring your progress throughout the escape game. Our game masters will provide clues if you get stuck — after all, we want you to have fun! Remember, it's not only about trying to escape the room; it's about the full experience. But if you’re just dying to break out, we do have some tips and tactics as well as suggestions on when to ask for a hint.
Q: How can I celebrate my birthday here?
A: Breakout is the perfect place to come and celebrate your birthday or plan a party for your child. If you let us know it’s your birthday at the time of booking, we would love to help make this a special memory.
Q: Can I take photos or video while playing the escape games?
A: Sorry, but we ask that you refrain from taking photos or videos in the escape rooms. You will get to take a photo with your group after the game is complete.
