While Dayton isn’t a huge metropolis filled with escape rooms, there are several options in town to choose from. Breakout Games - Dayton has 7 awesome rooms for you to play, but for highly addicted escape room enthusiasts, other options will soon be needed! Another place to try is The Great Escape Game, located in Beavercreek. If you’ve played all these rooms and are still thirsting for more escape game fun, we recommend driving to nearby Cincinnati or Columbus, as those larger cities have far greater options to choose from when selecting escape rooms. Escape Room Tips and Strategy
Escape rooms are delightfully fun, but they are also quite tricky and can be very hard, especially for first timers. Therefore, I recommend gathering a few pointers and tips beforehand so you’ll at least know what to expect once you cross the threshold into one of our escape rooms. The first thing to note is that while it can be easy to get overwhelmed with all the various things in the room, focus on obvious clues at the start. Don’t spend too long on any particular item when just getting started as many are likely false “red herrings” or will only be used later. Also, don’t overthink things. Escape rooms are typically designed for anyone aged 10+. You don’t need a PhD in advanced physics to break out! Also, stay on good terms with your teammates. The pressure of the ticking clock can exacerbate interpersonal conflicts, but try to remember that everyone shares the same goal of escaping in time. Squabbling will just waste time. Lastly, we offer clues for a reason. Nearly every group gets stuck at some point, and a key escape room strategy is knowing when you’re stuck and asking for clues quickly. Obviously you don’t want us to solve your room for you, but if you’re stuck on one thing for 5-10 minutes, it is generally recommended to ask for help. If you waste 15 or 20 minutes on one step, there’s a good chance you’ve fallen too far behind to realistically hope to break out. Good luck!
