Powering Up During Escape Rooms: Should We Bring Food and Drinks?

A common question we get in our stores is whether food and drinks can be brought into our escape room experiences. After all, an hour-long game is a significant amount of time spent solving puzzles and racing against the clock, so it's understandable that some players may want to bring along a snack or drink. However, we generally do not recommend or allow outside food and drinks in our escape rooms (with the exception of health or dietary reasons). Let’s take a look at a few reasons why snacks may inhibit your escape room experience, along with some helpful alternatives!
One of the main reasons we don’t recommend bringing snacks and drinks into your escape room is that they can create messes and distractions that negatively affect gameplay. After all, we’ve all spilled a drink or witnessed an unfortunate spill at some point. Now imagine that happening while you're already racing against the clock! Spills and messes can interrupt the experience and take your focus away from solving puzzles, which is something we strive to help you avoid.
Instead, consider bringing a drink in a sealable bottle during your game. Knowing your drink won't spill can help eliminate potential distractions while still allowing you to stay hydrated. Now that you've solved the drink dilemma, are you still wondering what to do if you're hungry? Try asking the staff at your Breakout Games location about nearby places to eat after your game! Many of our stores are located near great restaurants and local favorites where your group can grab a bite after finishing your escape adventure.
If you're hoping to bring food and drinks for a celebration at one of our escape rooms, we recommend calling your local Breakout Games location to discuss your options. Many of our locations don't have dedicated party rooms, which means there isn't an additional space to enjoy snacks and celebrate together. However, our staff is always happy to brainstorm solutions and work with you to help make your celebration as enjoyable as possible.
While we generally don’t recommend bringing food and drinks into your escape room experience, you should always feel free to call your local Breakout Games location with any questions. We understand that snacks may be essential for guests with dietary needs or health restrictions, and we're happy to work with you to find the best solution. Give your location a call before booking so we can help ensure you and your group have the best possible experience!
