Why are Escape Rooms Good for a Family?

The debate of who should you include in your escape game team can be difficult. We think you can't really go wrong! Different groups bring different skills and talents to the table. But we think there's something special about coming in with your family and experiencing Breakout together that is unlike anything else found at home.
As an onlooker, we get excited watching a family walk into Breakout Games not knowing what to expect. Like most people, as you enter your game you become wide-eyed as your gaze bounces around this new environment. Someone takes charge and begins to solve clues. Usually, that person taking charge is a parent. Sometimes, however, we're pleasantly surprised to see someone younger and maybe even someone typically quiet take charge and direct their family around the room. These moments are especially rewarding for us at Breakout. Maybe in a normal setting, the quiet kid doesn't feel comfortable speaking out and taking charge. But once they step foot into an escape game they are immediately in their element.
It's not just the player who takes charge that accomplishes the room successfully. They can't solve their way through a room without the help of their team! We specifically design our rooms to be best with 4 or 5 players. This allows every player to contribute and work through enough clues without getting overwhelmed. All these players must communicate well with each other in order to escape. Items from around the room might be connected, but you wouldn't know it unless you shared your discovery with the whole family. A successful group of escape artists is usually a group that thinks out loud.
The rush of escaping with only seconds left on the clock is unforgettable. We hope you bring your family into Breakout Games to work together and accomplish something amazing together. Even the closest families aren't given the opportunity to work together in the way an escape room allows. Conversation can flourish around a dinner table but the opportunity to really communicate and problem solve presents itself once you enter an escape room.
