Escape Room Tips and Strategy
While many march boldly into an escape room expecting simple puzzles and a gratifying pat on the back after breaking the record time, you would be wise to learn a few pointers beforehand. Escape rooms can be hard, especially if you have no idea what to expect. For starters, I recommend looking at everything in the room, but focusing in on the things that seem obvious. Rooms typically have easy starting clues to get you going. As you progress through the room, discard old clues and puzzles as they’re typically used just once. Focus on the new things you find, and potentially see how they interact with other items in the room. Markings or hints will usually help you put two and two together. Also, work well with your teammates. Escape rooms are all about fostering communication and collaborating (in fact some clues may require you to speak across the room to each other). Coming in with a positive frame of mind and a willingness to work together is key. Lastly, when you do get stuck (which happens to nearly everybody at some point), swallow your pride and ask for help. Our gamemasters provide clues to put you on the right path, and I highly advise using them, especially if you’re stuck on one step for 5-10 minutes. If you wait too long, you’ll get too far behind and will risk running out of time. Asking for those clues will get you unstuck and moving again!
