Escape Room Tips & Strategy

Few things can adequately prepare someone for the intensity and excitement of an escape room, but here are a few quick pointers:

  • Work together as a team. There's no need to showboat or make conflict with teammates. You're all striving for the common goal of escaping in time.
  • Keep an eye on the clock, as time passes very quickly.
  • Take advantage of your clues. We try to offer assistance when needed, and inevitably, most groups get stuck on something or another.
  • Instead of digging deep into your advanced Calculus knowledge, when you get stumped for 5-10 minutes on a single step, just ask for help. Chances are the solution was something pretty simple that you guys just happened to miss. Trust me, you'll feel a lot better having broken out after using 2 clues than fretting over what went wrong when you refused to ask for help.

Restaurants & Recommendations for Escape Room Night

Playing an escape room at Breakout Games - Knoxville may leave you hungry. We highly encourage our guests to make playing an escape room part of a fun night out, and there’s no better way to wrap up your game than going out to eat afterwards. While dining, you can discuss the various aspects of the room, what tripped you up, how you solved a particular step, and so on. While you’re in the heat of the moment in the room it’s tough to get a full grasp of how things piece together, so a fun time out afterwards is a great way to debrief. Fortunately, there are several great establishments not far from our store, and particularly along Kingston Pike. Check out Full Service BBQ, Calhoun’s on Pellissippi Parkway, Bull Feathers Cafe West, First Watch - Lovell Road, Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse, Rosarito’s Mexican Cuisine, The Chop House, Chuy’s, Sami’s Cafe, or one of the many popular chain restaurants located nearby. Additionally, if you want to complement your escape room with another fun activity, head over to Strike and Spare Family Bowl for bowling.
