Escape Room Tips and Strategy
While escape rooms are designed for anyone aged 10 and up, don’t be fooled into thinking this is some easy kids game. Escape rooms are hard, especially when you’re facing the ticking clock! Here are some tips and suggestions to start you off on the right foot. Come in enthusiastic and ready to win with a positive attitude. You’ll be working together with teammates, and everyone’s positivity will feed off of each other to make you all more creative and upbeat about solving clues. Teamwork is key, so be sure to talk well amongst one another and definitely share interesting things you find in the room. Often times a specific item will go along with something on the other side of the room to solve a clue. If no one speaks, you may miss the vital pairing! Also, don’t overthink or over analyze the clues. Yes, they are tricky, but realize that our rooms are designed to be playable by everyone. Instead of trying out some complicated math problem, stick to the basics. The answers will seem easy once you get them. It’s the waiting around for that “Aha!” moment that proves difficult. Lastly, when you do get stuck on one step (which happens to nearly every group), do yourself a favor and ask for a clue. Yes, you want to solve everything yourselves, but after 5-10 minutes being stuck on a problem, you will probably want to take the help and move on. Remember, minutes pass fast in escape rooms, so you’ll want to progress quickly or else risk getting too far behind…
Restaurants and Recommendations for an Escape Room Night
Playing an escape room at Breakout Games - Knoxville may leave you hungry. We highly encourage our guests to make playing an escape room part of a fun night out, and there’s no better way to wrap up your game than going out to eat afterwards. While dining, you can discuss the various aspects of the room, what tripped you up, how you solved a particular step, and so on. While you’re in the heat of the moment in the room it’s tough to get a full grasp of how things piece together, so a fun time out afterwards is a great way to debrief. Fortunately, there are several great establishments not far from our store, and particularly along Kingston Pike. Check out Full Service BBQ, Calhoun’s on Pellissippi Parkway, Bull Feathers Cafe West, First Watch - Lovell Road, Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse, Rosarito’s Mexican Cuisine, The Chop House, Chuy’s, Sami’s Cafe, or one of the many popular chain restaurants located nearby. Additionally, if you want to complement your escape room with another fun activity, head over to Strike and Spare Family Bowl for bowling.
