Escape Room Tips & Strategy

Few things can adequately prepare someone for the intensity and excitement of an escape room, but here are a few quick pointers:
- Work together as a team. There's no need to showboat or make conflict with teammates. You're all striving for the common goal of escaping in time.
- Keep an eye on the clock, as time passes very quickly.
- Take advantage of your clues. We try to offer assistance when needed, and inevitably, most groups get stuck on something or another.
- Instead of digging deep into your advanced Calculus knowledge, when you get stumped for 5-10 minutes on a single step, just ask for help. Chances are the solution was something pretty simple that you guys just happened to miss. Trust me, you'll feel a lot better having broken out after using 2 clues than fretting over what went wrong when you refused to ask for help.

Restaurants & Recommendations for Escape Room Night

Breakout North Hills
Located close to the Ross Park Mall, there are numerous restaurants, shopping, and other activities to include in a trip to Breakout Games. We often recommend eating out following your escape room so that your group can debrief from the experience, and the North Hills area has plenty of options for that, or continuing the fun with another activity nearby. Check out these restaurants: Eat’n Park, Taj Mahal, Sesame Inn, Mad Mex, CoreLife Eatery, Olive Garden, IHOP, Bob Evan’s, The Cheesecake Factory, and Chili’s Grill & Bar. If you want more of a bar atmosphere, try Rum Runners Saloon. If you want another fun activity in North Hills after your game, play some lazer tag at Laser Storm Pittsburgh.
Breakout South Hills
South Hills also has plenty of options for eating and fun after your escape room as well. Here are some of our favorite local restaurants: Tom’s Diner, The Dor-Stop Restaurant, Eat’n Park, Mexi Casa, My Thai, Vocelli Pizza, Katana Pittsburgh, Uncle Tony’s Pizza, Molly’s Pizza, Don Campiti’s Pizzeria, and Cain’s Saloon Pittsburgh. There are also several fun bars nearby for drinks, including Jamison’s, R Bar, and Breaker’s, where you can enjoy a fun game of pool. The nearby Hollywood Theater on Potomac Ave is a historical movie theater built in 1926, which shows films both new and old."
