Escape Room Tips and Strategy

While escape rooms are fun, they are also very tricky and challenging. It’s best to at least know what to expect, and I can offer a couple quick tips to get you pointed in the right direction. Escape rooms are all about teamwork and collaboration. That’s why each room usually holds up to 8 or so participants. These clues aren’t easy, and you’ll want all the help you can get! Try to foster a good camaraderie amongst teammates. It’s not about being the team member who solves the most riddles; it’s about breaking out! Therefore, leave your ego at the door, take in the spirit of escape rooms, and work together and communicate well to locate solutions. Be sure not to over-analyze all the details. Most escape room solutions are actually rather simple (once you see it!). Many novices will spend far too much time on a “red herring” or false clue. Also, be wary of the many props located in the room which may not have anything to with a puzzle at all. Pay close attention to that clock, as an hour will pass very quickly. Lastly, be sure to take advantage of your clues when you get stuck. We offer help to keep your group moving, and if you get stuck on one step for roughly 10 minutes, it’s time to ask for a clue. Groups that fail to make it out in time often wait too long to ask for clues and get too far behind. Good luck!
