If you’ve never done an escape room, you probably have a lot of questions, including what the heck do you wear?!
The short answer is: whatever you want! There is no dress code for the vast majority of escape rooms. However, we do have some general recommendations when considering what to wear for your escape room adventure.
Clothes You Can Move In
Escape rooms are a fully immersive experience where you’re not only watching a story take place but actively participating in it. While most escape rooms focus on mental (not physical) ability, you will need to move about the room to find clues and solve puzzles. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict your movement. Plus, by wearing comfortable clothes, you can more easily focus on the puzzles at hand.
Keep in mind that some escape rooms have more physical elements than others. Some escape rooms may require you to climb stairs, crawl through tunnels, or even run away from live actors (if you choose a “haunted” escape room). Do your research on whichever escape room you choose so that you can be the most comfortable and prepared that you can.
Comfortable Shoes
Some escape rooms may have chairs or other places to sit down, but it’s likely that you will stand for the majority of your 60-minute experience. So maybe switch those pinchy heels for something more comfy.
Something You Like for Pictures
At the end of your escape room experience, you’ll be able to take a photo with your escape time. If you want to share your photo, you might want to consider an outfit you feel comfortable being photographed in.
