Nvidia’s Deep Learning

January 19, 2017

The Future for AI

Self driving cars have been talked about for the last few years and just recently they have been put to the test. With Nvidia’s newest break-through in technology, self-driving cars are sure to become the norm in the future.

According to Google Deep Learning is “a branch of machine learning based on a set of algorithms that attempt to model high level abstractions in data”. In other words, this allows a car to “learn” how to drive from you (the driver), and other self-driving vehicles. This will implement a smarter and safer self-driving vehicle.

Check out the snippet from the announcement of this major break-through!

Which Way is he Facing?

January 17, 2017

Check out this optical illusion! It’s really hard to tell which direction they are facing. Which direction do you think it is?

The science behind this illusion is the face being portrayed to face towards you while the nose is aimed to the right.  Depending on where you focus your eyes this will influence your mind to believe he is facing that direction! Our brains try to take shortcuts to “guess” based on what our eyes see to make observations and illusions actually bend your mind into contemplation.

6 Reasons Why Virtual Reality is Here to Stay

January 6, 2017

6 Reasons Why Virtual Reality is Here to Stay

In 2016, VR hit the market of technology and it hit hard.

  1. Many major companies announced their involvement in the new market. One of these companies was Facebook. They bought Oculus VR for $2 Billion. Oculus VR is, as you can probably guess, a Virtual Reality company. They created and developed a VR headset that hit the consumer market early 2016. Following the release of the Rift, the Oculus Touch motion controllers were released in early December of 2016.
  2. Sony also got their hands dirty in this new market by releasing their PlayStation VR along with the PlayStation Pro to power the higher quality experience. By the end of 2016, Sony ended up selling about 1.4 million headsets. Which is extremely impressive considering it was released in October of that year.
  3. HTC and Valve (the creators of Steam) teamed up to develop the HTC Vive, the first VR headset to market with motion controllers. This created a healthy competition in the PC VR market.
  4. Samsung teamed up with Oculus to release the Gear VR with Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and newer devices. The platform now consistently has 1 million plus monthly active users. This makes Samsung the leader of the mobile VR market.
  5. Microsoft is developing the new Xbox code-named Project Scorpio. It will supposedly be able to power high-end PC quality virtual reality experiences while also being at an affordable consumer price.
  6. Google released their Daydream View mobile VR headset/operating system with a simple motion controller to go along with the Pixel phone. This creates a compelling experience for a compelling price while also looking appealing to most consumers.

What experience have you had with VR? If you haven’t, would you be willing to give it a try?

‘Can You Crack the Code’ Answer!

January 3, 2017

The Answer is revealed!

Here it is!

After reading clue #2, you know that the numbers 0, 4, and 5 are not in the 3-digit code. This rules out the number 0 in row 1, the number 4 in row 3, and the numbers 4 and 5 in row 5. You are then left with the following…

After reading clue #1, you know that either numbers 1 or 3 are in the code and in the right place.

After reading clue #3, you know that the numbers 6 and/or 2 are also in the code, but in the wrong place.

After reading clue #4, you know that two numbers are correct, but in the wrong places. Since row 4 and row 1 have the number 1 in them, then this means that the number 1 is in the code. After reading clue #1, you know that the number 1 is the right number and it is in the right place. So, you have the following…

This means that either the number 9 or the number 7 is also in the code, but in the wrong place!

After reviewing clue #5 and clue #2, you know that the number 9 is in the code!

After reviewing clues #5 and #4 you know that the number 9 is in the code, but in the wrong places for both rows. Leaving you with this result…

This ultimately leaves you with 2 possibilities!
